Heidi launches agentic Heidi II but keeps the new features out of the UK and EU
The Melbourne AI scribe vendor, which has raised US$436.6M, now has agents acting on the 10 million follow-up tasks its visits generate each week.

Heidi, the Melbourne-based clinical AI company, launched Heidi II on 28 September 2026, a version of its platform that uses software agents to carry out the administrative tasks around a patient visit instead of only writing up the consultation 1. The rollout began on 29 September in English and French, and Heidi said these capabilities will not be offered in the UK or the EU 1.
What Heidi is launching
Heidi said its tools currently handle 2.8 million patient visits a week and generate about 10 million follow-up tasks, which until now went back to the clinician to complete 1. Heidi II adds agents, memory and access to peer-reviewed research 1. A clinician gives an instruction in plain language, and the agent plans the work, carries it out and returns the result for review 1. Heidi lists pre-charting a whole day of patients, analysing a practice's visits or referral letters, and sweeping a patient panel for people due immunisations, blood tests, screening or recalls as early uses 1. Agents can be saved as scheduled Routines for one clinician or a whole practice, and the system can operate other software the way a staff member would, including the record, calendar, inbox and portal 1.
Heidi said clinical judgement and approvals remain with the clinician, with approval controls set by the clinician or organisation, and that internal clinical safety teams review features before and after release 1. Research content from partners including the New England Journal of Medicine, Wiley and Cochrane, plus BMJ Group's decision support material, will appear in chats with citations 1.
The company gave its scale to date: its Scribe product has covered more than 175 million visits and 67 million clinical hours, Heidi Evidence has answered more than 10 million queries, and more than 400 million follow-on tasks have been surfaced since February 2024 1.
What it means for the market
The launch moves a heavily funded AI scribe vendor into agentic work across the systems a practice already runs, which puts it in contact with EHR, scheduling and messaging functions rather than notes alone 1. Heidi has raised US$436.6M from investors including Blackbird, General Catalyst, LocalGlobe, Point72 Private Investments and Headline 1. Co-founder and chief executive Thomas Kelly said Heidi can now "create the tasks and complete them from referrals and chart prep to arranging follow ups" 1.
For buyers in the UK and Europe the main point is the exclusion. Heidi says it aligns with NHS requirements and GDPR, yet the agent features will not be available in either market, and the release gives no reason or timetable 1. NHS and European health systems that use Heidi's scribe will therefore not get the agent layer that US and other customers receive, at least for now 1.
Caveats
All figures and claims come from the company's own announcement and have not been independently verified 1. Heidi says its capabilities are staged by region and setting, and further languages are due after English and French 1.
